What to know before buying

The relatively broad neck range does not settle back coverage. A shorter cape and a longer cloak can fit the same neck very differently.

Neck circumference, chest circumference and back length describe different aspects of fit. A broad neck range does not tell you whether a cape will drag, and a brand’s small or XXL label cannot be transferred to another brand. Compare the stated dimensions with your pet rather than selecting from a breed photo or weight estimate alone.

Start with the pet’s measurements and tolerance

For this product: Compare the 17.7-inch drop to the pet's back and keep ties clear of chewing or snagging points.

Introduce the simplest part first and watch the pet’s response. Keep vision, breathing, walking and tail movement unobstructed, supervise any wear and remove the outfit if it causes discomfort. A brief photograph may suit an accessory that would not be appropriate for a long outing. Separate hats and glasses can be omitted if the pet tolerates only a cape or bandana.
