What to know before buying

The raised collar and ties need checking against the individual pet. Large is a brand-specific measurement, not a universal fit.

Neck circumference, chest circumference and back length describe different aspects of fit. A broad neck range does not tell you whether a cape will drag, and a brand’s small or XXL label cannot be transferred to another brand. Compare the stated dimensions with your pet rather than selecting from a breed photo or weight estimate alone.

Start with the pet’s measurements and tolerance

For this product: Measure the neck and assess cape length, then check that the standing collar does not press against the ears.

Introduce the simplest part first and watch the pet’s response. Keep vision, breathing, walking and tail movement unobstructed, supervise any wear and remove the outfit if it causes discomfort. A brief photograph may suit an accessory that would not be appropriate for a long outing. Separate hats and glasses can be omitted if the pet tolerates only a cape or bandana.
